The purpose of the Carbon for Farmers Voucher Program (CF-VP) is to provide funding for farmers to work with professional providers of their choice to:
- increase their understanding of carbon farming and its requirements
- assess the feasibility of carbon farming projects on their land
- guide informed decision-making about developing projects.
Vouchers are made available to fund part of the cost of services, with a cash co-contribution covering the rest.
What’s on offer?
Round 3 of the CF-VP is now closed. Round 3 catered to farmers at different stages of project readiness. The full list of successful applicants is available to view at the bottom of this page.
A voucher of up to $5,000 (ex GST) with a 30% minimum cash contribution
An Opportunity Report identifies the options and examines high-level project feasibility. The report is tailored to the farm and the business, identifying suitable methods and potential carbon sequestration, co-benefits, risks and other business considerations to inform the next steps.
Who should apply for an Opportunity Report?
Farmers with a basic understanding of carbon farming who want to explore options and how a project could work for them.
A voucher of up to $15,000 (ex GST) with a 20% minimum cash contribution.
After assessing project feasibility, the next stage is to complete a Carbon Farming Plan which provides a detailed project design and plan for registering the project with the Clean Energy Regulator (CER), the government body responsible for regulating carbon farming projects and the Australian Carbon Credit Unit Scheme (ACCU Scheme).

- Applicants need to be the owner of a commercial farming property located in the South West Land Division, operating a WA-based primary production business.
- Eligibility including applicants, expenditure and relevant carbon farming methods are detailed in the program guidelines.
