Trade missions
The department facilitates exhibition stands at some of the world’s largest international food and beverage trade shows.
These Australian Government managed stands provide WA exporters with a valuable platform to connect with thousands of potential importers. Participating exporters also benefit from the credibility associated with a government-managed stand and significantly reduced exhibitor costs.
Trade shows offer WA exporters with the opportunity to analyse their global competition in-market and investigate current trends relevant to their product category.
Additionally, the department works with in-market Invest & Trade WA staff to invite key buyers to the stand and facilitate introductions. Retail tours and market insight sessions to help exporters better understand the local trading environment are also organised in the lead-up to the trade shows.
Selected exhibitions have included:
- Food & Hotel Asia (FHA) in Singapore
- Gulfood in Dubai
- FOODEX in Japan
- China International Import Export (CIIE) on Mainland China
- HOFEX in Hong Kong
- International Food and Drink Event (IFE) in the United Kingdom

The department co-ordinates and supports trade missions to key strategic markets in the days either post-exhibition or as part of wider whole-of-government mission.
These market visits offer WA businesses tailored business matching opportunities, along with valuable on-the-ground market and industry insights that are hard to obtain remotely.
Recent trade missions have visited markets in Indonesia, Qatar and India.

Inbound delegation programs are regularly held to facilitate meetings between WA exporters and prospective international buyers.
The programs are designed to raise awareness of the State’s agriculture, food, and beverage industries.
Participating exporters also benefit from the opportunity to showcase their business credentials, such as infrastructure, practices, and staff, firsthand.
The department collaborates with other WA Government agencies to host these programs.
